CAPS (Canadian Association of Professional Speakers)
A must-join for any Canadian speaker. Holds an outstanding annual conference every December. Many local chapters also have independent programs throughout the year. Bender is a founding member.

NSA (National Speakers Association)
A U.S.-based international speakers organization with thousands of members. Hosts regional workshops throughout the year, and an outstanding annual convention that draws speakers from all over the world.

Toastmasters International
A good organization for beginning speakers who need to gain platform experience. Although Bender was never a member, he was given the society's Communications and Leadership Award in 1995.

Canadian Public Relations Society
A professional association representing more than 1,500 public relations practitioners across Canada. Has 17 local chapters, and an active program for promoting a code of professional conduct. Has close ties with U.S. and international public relations associations.

International Association of Business Communicators
An international association of professionals engaged in strategic business communication management. Has many local chapters, an active Canadian program, and participates in international conferences that draw thousands.

International Association of Facilitators
The IAG promotes, supports and advances the art and practice of professional facilitation through methods exchange, professional growth, practical research, networking and support services.
